Great Coates Motors will supply and fit chalwyn valves and spark arrestors to the following machines - cars, vans, trucks, heavy & light plant and machinery.

We will design and modify the vehicle (or machine) as required to enable both chalwyn valves and spark arrestors to be fitted as required.  We will supply correct documentation for both chalwyn valves and spark arrestors to prove they have been manufactured to the correct standard and that they have been fitted to the correct industry standard in our fully equipped workshops.   We can also arrange dads tests where required.

Engine air intake shut down (shut off) valves
If flammable gas or vapour is drawn into the intake of a diesel engine it acts as an additional ungoverned fuel supply. When this occurs the only certain way to STOP the engine is by the operation of an air intake shut down (shut off) valve. Failure to stop the engine can result in uncontrolled engine overspeed followed by mechanical failure or flash back from the intake resulting in ignition of the surrounding flammable atmosphere.
 
Diesel engine exhaust spark arrestor range
Diesel engine exhaust spark arrestors are a basic but key safety feature for both hazardous area and lower risk diesel engine applications such as forestry or agriculture, where a stray spark may cause ignition of combustible material. Virtually all legislation with regard to operating a diesel engine in a hazardous area includes a mandatory requirement to fit a properly tested and approved exhaust spark arrestor.

Type SSL

Designed for permanent fitting and manufactured in stainless steel, the SSL range of quenching type spark arrestors are approved to the relevant provisions of the European ATEX Directive for hazardous area applications. Models are available to suit engines with ratings between 7.5kW (10hp) and 373kW (500hp). Higher ratings can be accommodated when multiple exhaust pipes are fitted.

Type SSE
Compact stainless steel spark arrestors designed for temporary or permanent fitting at the exhaust tail pipe outlet. Suitable for engines rated between 4kW (5hp) and 11kW (150hp). ATEX approved for hazardous area applications.

Types SAS and SSS
Simple single stage carbon steel or stainless steel suitable for engines rated at 4kW (5hp) or less. Not ATEX approved for hazardous area applications.
